If youโ€™re looking for the perfect non-alcoholic drink that still feels like a special moment, then you need to make this Elderflower Spritz Mocktail. Itโ€™s perfect for those times that you feel like a cocktail but youโ€™re avoiding alcohol. Itโ€™s actually a beautiful mocktail for a brunch because, while I love the idea of mimosaโ€™s, I donโ€™t love the idea of feeling tired and groggy for the rest of the day post mimosa.ย

Ingredients Notes & Substitutionsย

Below is everything you will need to make this beautiful elderflower mocktail recipe, including ingredients notes and possible substitutions. See the full recipe with ingredient quantities in the recipe card at the bottom of the post.

  • fresh lemon juiceย โ€“ you can replace the lemon juice for lime juice. For a sweeter alternative you could use orange juice or apple juice.ย
  • elderflower syrup or cordialย โ€“ I was able to find this at my local organic grocer and I have seen elderflower cordials a lot in deli and specialty stores.ย
  • sparkling water or soda waterย โ€“ Iโ€™ve used mineral water but you could also use soda water.ย
  • fresh mint leavesย โ€“ the fresh mint leaves make a really pretty garnish. You could use other fresh herbs like fresh basil, thyme or a rosemary sprig.
  • fresh strawberriesย โ€“ Iโ€™ve added thinly sliced strawberries to this mocktail but you could use other seasonal fruits like other berries (blueberries, blackberries or raspberries would be really pretty), citrus like lemon slices, lime slices or orange slices or pineapple pieces, diced mango, slices of peach or passion fruit pulp.
Ingredients laid out for an elderflower spritz mocktail.

How to Make an Elderflower Spritz Mocktailย

To make this delightful drink, add the strawberry slices to the bottom of a glass tumbler and top with pebble ice or ice cubes. Add the lemon juice and elderflower cordial to the glass and then pour the sparkling water or club soda over the ice to fill the glass. Use a swizzle stick or spoon to stir the mocktail and then garnish with a sprig of fresh mint.ย

Alcoholic Versionย

If youโ€™re wanting to add alcohol to this mocktail then to make it a cocktail then here are a few options:

  • proseccoย โ€“ serve in a champagne glass and top with prosecco instead of sparkling water.
  • elderflower liqueurย โ€“ swap the elderflower cordial for 15 ml elderflower liqueur and 15 ml gin. If you canโ€™t find elderflower liqueur then just use gin or vodka.ย

Make a Big Batchย

If youโ€™re making this mocktail to serve a group then simply multiply the ingredients by amount of people you would like to serve and add to a pitcher.
