This fresh and vibrant Cilantro Tahini Lime Dressing is not only tasty but healthy and nutritious as well! With healthy fats from the tahini and extra virgin olive oil, this dressing is a great way to add a nutrient boost to your next salad. This dressing pairs perfectly with a Summery green salad of use to drizzle over San Choy Bay or as a dipping sauce for rice paper rolls.

What’s to Love About Cilantro Tahini Lime Dressing

  • allergy friendly – this homemade salad dressing is nut free, egg free, dairy free and gluten free.
  • healthy ingredients – made using healthy, wholesome ingredients like tahini, extra virgin olive oil, fresh cilantro (coriander) and lime juice, this dressing is not only yummy but so healthy!
  • easy to make – simply add all of the ingredients to a blender and blend until creamy – you have a delicious dressing in under 5 minutes!
  • yummy – if you love coriander and Asian flavours then you will love this dressing!

Ingredients Notes & Substitutions

Below is a list of all of the ingredients that you will need to make this cilantro lime tahini dressing as well as any notes or possible substitutions. Find the ingredient quantities in the recipe card at the bottom of this post.

  • hulled tahini – tahini is a sesame seed paste made from ground sesame seeds originating from the Middle East. It has a creamy texture and nutty flavour and is commonly used in hummus. Tahini is a great source of healthy fatty acids, calcium, protein and fibre.
  • cilantro – also known as coriander (to my fellow Australians) this is a key ingredient in this recipe so I wouldn’t recommend swapping. In saying that, if you wanted to go for a different vibe all together (or if you don’t like coriander) then you can use other fresh herbs like fresh parsley or fresh basil in place of cilantro. Use the stems as well as the leaves of the cilantro.
  • fresh lime juice – again, this ingredient is key to this recipe however if you’re opting to use parsley or basil then you could swap the lime juice for fresh lemon juice.
  • fish sauce – this gives the dressing a beautiful umami flavour. If you have an allergy to fish or crustaceans then you can swap for a little salt or a teaspoon of miso paste (add more to taste).
  • honey – I’ve added a little honey for a touch of sweetness, you can swap honey for pure maple syrup.
  • extra virgin olive oil – I use extra virgin olive oil every single day when I’m cooking. It’s my preferred oil because it has so many healthy benefits and can be heated without turning rancid. As this is a dressing that isn’t heated you can swap for flaxseed oil (also known as linseed oil). You could also use avocado oil in place of olive oil.

For a hint of spice you can add some red pepper flakes or tabasco.

How to Make Creamy Tahini Cilantro Lime Dressing

Make this dressing in under 5 minutes. Simply add the cilantro, tahini, lime juice, fish sauce, honey and olive oil to a high speed blender (I prefer a bullet blender for this recipe). Blend on high until the dressing is creamy and green.

Serving Suggestions

There are so many ways that you can use this delicious dressing. Here are some of my favourites:

  • drizzle over a pita stuffed with your favourite fillings
  • use to dress Asian style bowls like my Teriyaki Ground Turkey Rice Bowls.
  • drizzle over your favourite veggies like roasted sweet potato or potato.
  • use to dress a green salad with cucumber, tomatoes and lettuce.
