Whatโ€™s to Love About 3 Ingredient Guacamoleย

  • allergy friendlyย โ€“ this recipe is completely dairy free, gluten free, nut free, egg free and vegan, making it perfect for anyone with these allergies, intolerances or dietary preferences.ย
  • quick & easyย โ€“ made in less than 5 minutes, using minimal ingredients, this delicious dip is a no brainer.ย
  • deliciousย โ€“ despite only having 3 ingredients, this guacamole is perfectly balanced and so flavoursome.
  • nutrient denseย โ€“ we all know that avocados give our bodies healthy fat, but they are also really great sources of vitamin E, C and K and dietary fibre.ย

Ingredients Notes & Substitutions

Below is a list of the simple ingredients you will need to make this easy guacamole recipe. For the full recipe and ingredient quantities, head to the recipe card at the bottom of this post.ย

  • ripe avocadosย โ€“ try and pick avocados that are ripe to make them easier to mash. The avocado should feel soft when pushed gently near the stem end. This time Iโ€™ve used Shepard avocados, however I would normally prefer to use ripe hass avocados. Just use whatever you have available to you.ย
  • sea salt flakesย โ€“ Iโ€™ve used sea salt flakes. If youโ€™re using finely ground sea salt then you will need less then what is called for in the recipe.ย
  • fresh lime juiceย โ€“ fresh lime juice really makes this recipe! Add some fresh lime juice to the top of the guacamole to prevent it from going brown when storing in the fridge.ย
Ingredients for 3 ingredient guacamole laid out.

Optional Add-Ins

If you want to change things up a bit then pick some add-inโ€™s from the list below:

  • cilantro (also known as coriander) โ€“ finely chop the coriander before mixing in.
  • red onions โ€“ finely diced red onion is so yummy mixed through this guac.ย
  • garlic powder โ€“ about 1/4 teaspoon of garlic powder will do.ย
  • lemon juice โ€“ donโ€™t have limes? Use some lemon juice instead!
  • red pepper flakes โ€“ add to taste for some added spice.
  • tomato โ€“ finely dice a tomato and stir it through the guac.ย

How to Make 3 Ingredient Guacamoleย

Follow the instructions below to make the perfect guac!ย

We’ll email this post to you, so you can come back to it later!

Use a sharp knife to cut the avocados in half, removing the pit from both. Use a spoon to scoop out the flesh and add to a medium bowl. Add the lime juice and sea salt flakes to the bowl, using a potato masher or fork to mash the avocado to your desired texture. If you want a really smooth guacamole you can use a food processor to blend it. I prefer a little texture in mine though.ย

Now add in any additional extras that you would like to add.ย

Storageย

There are a few ways to store leftover guacamole. The first is to store in an airtight container but make sure to squeeze some lime juice over the surface of the guac to prevent it going brown. The other is to store in a bowl topped with plastic wrap, pushing the plastic wrap down so that it sits right on the surface of the guacamole with no air in between.ย

Serving Suggestionsย

Guacamole is so versatile and can be used in a variety of dishes. Here are some of my favourites!

  • nachosย
  • tacosย
  • Sheet Pan Chicken Tacosย
  • burritos
  • burrito bowlsย
  • enchiladasย
  • spread onto toast or bagels
