My Festive Pomegranate and Vodka Cocktail is the perfect cocktail to serve at a Christmas party with friends or family. With sweet pomegranate juice perfectly accompanied by lemon juice, Cointreau and vodka, this is a delicious cocktail with a festive twist. For an extra luxe touch, I like to garnish the glass with edible gold – it makes for a beautiful drink that will wow your guests.

Ingredients Notes & Substitutions
This recipe uses simple, easy to find ingredients. Below is a list of all of the ingredients that you will need as well as possible substitutions.
- pomegranate juice – I recommend using 100% pure pomegranate juice, with no added sugar. You can swap the pomegranate juice for cranberry juice if preferred. The pomegranate juice goes perfectly with the citrus flavours but cranberry juice would be work really well also.
- vodka – use your go-to brand of vodka. This recipe could also go nicely with gin if that is your preference.
- Cointreau – Cointreau is an orange liqueur. You can also use triple sec in place of Cointreau.
- fresh lemon juice – you can use fresh lime juice in place of lemon juice, however I prefer it with lemon juice.
- fresh pomegranate arils – also known as pomegranate seeds.
Garnish
- edible gold leaf – the edible gold leaf is so pretty on the side of the glass and with some small flakes floating on top of the cocktail.
- dehydrated orange slices – dried orange slices are really pretty placed in the top of the glass and complement the pomegranate and gold perfectly.

How to Make Pomegranate Vodka Cocktail
This fancy cocktail is beautiful but really so simple to make. I like to serve it in a short glass tumbler but you can also serve in a coupe glass or your favourite cocktail glasses for added fanciness!
First, garnish the glasses. If you have food styling tweezers you can use these to place the gold leaf on the glass. If not, that’s ok too! You can just kind of press the gold leaf onto the side of the glass and spread it out with your fingers. It’s a bit messy but also fun to get creative with. Fill the garnished tumbler 3/4 the way up with ice cubes and top with pomegranate arils or use pomegranate ice cubes.

Next, half fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Top with the pomegranate juice, vodka, cointreau and lemon juice. Place the lid on the shaker and shake to combine. Pour the cocktail over the ice. Top with a slice of dried orange and a few flakes of edible gold leaf and serve.

Mix together in a jug with a swizzle stick and store in the refrigerator until you are ready to serve them up. Garnish all of the glasses ahead of time so that they are all ready to go.
