Ingredients Notes & Substitutions
This really is the most simple recipe to make, filled with easy to find, simple ingredients. Iโve listed all of the ingredients that you will need below as well as any notes and possible substitutions. For the ingredient quantities, see the recipe card at the bottom of this post.ย
- rolled oatsย โ Iโve used non-contaminated, wheat free oats for this recipe. In the US they will be labelled as certified gluten-free oats. You can also use quick oats in place of old fashioned rolled oats if preferred. Donโt use steel cut oats though as these will not work.ย
- unsweetened almond milkย โ Iโve opted for almond milk in this recipe but you can use any milk of choice. To keep it vegan use a non-dairy milk like coconut milk beverage, soy milk, oat milk or any other plant-based milk. If youโre not worried about dairy then you can also use regular milk.ย
- almond butterย โ you can really make this recipe with any nut butter you prefer like cashew butter, peanut butter or use tahini (and a nut-free milk) to make this recipe nut free.ย
- pure maple syrup โ I love using maple syrup as a sweetener but you could also use honey or no sweetener at all if youโre trying to reduce added sugars.ย
- chia seedsย โ chia seeds are a good source of the healthy fatty acids โย plant based omega 3. You can also use hemp seeds, linseeds (flaxseeds) or linseed meal (flaxseed meal) in place of chia seeds.ย
- vanilla extractย โ I love adding some vanilla extract for that delicious vanilla flavour. This is optional though.ย
- raspberriesย โ choose any of your favourite fruits to top the overnight oats with. You could use raspberries like me or blueberries, strawberries, diced mango, diced apple orย stewed apples.ย

How to Make Almond Butter Overnight Oats
To make this delicious overnight oatmeal, follow my easy step-by-step instructions below.ย
Divide the rolled oats, almond milk, chia seeds, vanilla extract and half of the almond butter (one teaspoon per jar) between individual glass jars (a mason jar would be perfect) or glass airtight containers. Stir to combine and then place the lids on securely and shake vigorously to well combined.

Transfer jars to the fridge and leave to set overnight or for at least two hours before. To serve, top with fresh raspberries and the remaining almond butter.ย

Storageย
Store the overnight oats in the fridge for 3-4 days. Itโs best to store them without the raspberries and then add the fresh raspberries right before eating.ย
