When the weather cools down it means soup season is upon us! What better way to nourish our bodies from the inside out then with a big bowl of warm soup. Iโ€™ve rounded up my favourite healthy soup recipes for you to keep you inspired!

I absolutely love when the weather starts to cool down, apart from the fact that I can adorn jeans without sweating up a storm, I get to cook all of my favourite comfort foods like soups, stews and curries. If youโ€™re like me and love a comforting bowl of soup but youโ€™re not sure what you feel like, donโ€™t worry because I have you covered. Whether you are looking for a vegetable soup, a soup with extra protein, butternut squash soup or youโ€™re leaning towards the classics (hello minestrone soup), there is something for everyone here!ย 

What I Love About Healthy Soupย Recipes

There is so much to love about a healthy soup recipe, apart from it being delicious and comforting it can be extremely nutritious and nourishing as well.ย 

  • great to meal prepย โ€“ soups are great to make as part of your weekend meal prep as you can make big batches, divide between individual containers and freeze for later. Or make a double batch and gift a batch to a friend who needs some extra love!ย 
  • allergy friendlyย โ€“ soups are pretty easy to make gluten-free, dairy-free, egg-free, nut-free or vegan. Just check out each individual post for substitutions where needed.ย 
  • healthyย โ€“ with vegetables and broth as the main base of most soups, they are loaded with dietary fiber, vitamins and minerals.

Whether youโ€™re making soup in the cooler months or not, here are some of my other favourite healthy ingredients to throw into a soup.ย

  • fish (great in laksa or chowder)

Fruit/Vegetablesย 

  • green beans
  • peppers (or capsicum)ย 
  • tomatoย 
  • zucchini
  • lemon juiceย

Herbs & Spicesย 

  • fresh herbs like fresh parsley, basil, oregano or corianderย 
  • sea salt flakesย 
  • cracked black pepperย 
  • chili flakesย 
  • dried herbsย 

Other essential ingredients that I use in nearly every soup recipe I make include:

  • extra virgin olive oilย 
  • chicken broth, chicken stock, orย homemade vegetable stock

Equipment Essentials for Making Soupย 

The best thing about soup is that you donโ€™t need any fancy equipment to make it, but there are a few items that I keep on hand to make life easier. They are:

Saffron Coconut Cauliflower Pumpkin Soup
